Subway
There's something beautiful about the way people love one another. Sometimes when you catch a glimpse of it, it can remind you how good it really can be.
There was a man on the subway, sitting next to a woman. They were average, they could have been anyone. We all melt into one another, each passing face is similar to the previous one. The thing that separates us is who we are. It lights up our smiles and gives our tears meaning. The thing that makes us stop and look at someone is when we catch a glimpse of their soul. These two people were laughing, her hand was wrapped around his and she was covering her mouth with her head leaning towards him. The laughter diminished slowly and he whispered something in her ear. She looked up at him with a look in her eyes that bore her entire being. He mouthed the words "I love you" and she kissed him. I looked around and I was not the only one captivated by this touching display. Quickly the looks dissipated and everyone withdrew back into themselves. For a brief moment those two people reminded others what it feels like to love, and be loved.
It's unlike anything else, and it can completely wash the rest of the world away for a brief moment. The thing that one needs to remember to truly be loved, is that you first have to love yourself. Being alone can be cold and completely hopeless at times. But it's during those times that you remember who are you, where you come from, where you are going...and in turn you will eventually find someone to go there with. You will find someone who loves the you that you love. And it doesn't get much better than that.
